To get the dust off of cloth lamp shades and particularily those with pleats take them outside and tackle them with a clean dry paintbrush!
I used a dryer sheet; it collected the dust and left a fresh smell when using the lamp
I use the sticky lint rollers to clean lamp shades. You just roll it over the shade and when it gets dirty, you just peel it off and you automatically have a new one. It even works on pleated shades.
