Apply ice cubes to freeze the wax. Pick out hardened pieces. If any wax remains and cannot be extracted by the freezing method, go the opposite diereciotn and melt it using a warm iron. First cover spot with paper from a brown shopping bag. Keep moving the paper away from waxy spot to prevent re-transfer to the rug.

Place a paper towel over candle wax. Gently press a hot iron over the paper towel and move back and forth. The wax will melt and be absorbed by the towel. It works great on sofas.
