Often rust can stain clothing because the garment was hung up wet on a metal hanger.
The rust remover that you can purchase in a hardware store is excellent for removing the rust stain (usually on the shoulders when the garment hung wet on the metal hanger)…as soon as the rust disappears, wash garment as usual….
Do not get rust remover on your skin or in your eyes. wear rubber gloves if necessary.

Try saturating the stain with lemon juice, then rub in salt. If on a white garment, setting it in the sun for a few hours, occasionaly refreshing the lemon juice, may also help. Then launder as usual. Do not put in dryer until all the stain is removed, otherwise you may set it.
