How to Wash A Baseball Cap

For a baseball cap made of anything but wool just toss in the washer, wash, stuff the head part to reshape and air dry.

Hand wash caps made of wool. Just lay them in a sink of detergent, and then lay them in rinse water. Pat dry as much as possible, reshape and allow to air dry.

Some folks put their caps in the top level of the dishwasher and then air dry. Just make sure you do not wash the caps and the dishes at the same time.

If your hat looks pretty good but the inner band is dirty just use a wash cloth with mild detergent and wipe around rinsing the same way then allow to air dry.

You can buy those plastic cage things, they have them for washing in the dishwasher and others that you can clip the hat to and wash in the machine. I use these for just drying though.

I have friends who put their hats in pillow cases or mesh bags and then put in the washer. They say it keeps the hats from getting jostled around or stuck in the washer.

I have heard of people hand washing their hats in the shower with a bit of shampoo.

I wash my husbands ball caps with woolite and a small scrub brush. I place a little woolight in a bowl.Dipping just the bristles and scrub the hat.No need for rinsing and the hat will turn out smelling and looking fresh and clean.
