Help! Years ago, my Mom wrote her name on all of our record albums. Some of these might be worth some money now, and even if they are not, I would still like to remove her name. I neglected to say that she used marker pen. I'd really appreciate some advice.
Thanks, Judy

I've tried everything I could find in the house. Peroxide, hairspray, polish remover, vinegar, baking soda, 409, and windex. Nothing removes marking pen from a vinyl purse. I'll go buy some rubbing alcohol and see if that works.

Thanks Tracy, for sharing. I tried that but it did not work. That was the 1st thing I tried. There has to be something that will work.

This is regular newsprint on a white vinyl purse... not real leather.

If all else fails try regular nail polish remover. I use it for the inside of my dryer and it got almost all of it out. Just try it on a little spot at a time. Good luck!

Hi there. I have a new white vinyl or leather-look purse that some newspapers were on top of and some of the ink transferred onto my purse. I have tried nail polish remover, hair spray, Tide Stain Stick, WD40, That's Incredible, Amodex, Clorox Clean up Cleaner with Bleach. Nothing has taken the stains out.

Does anyone know of any product that will take the stains out of my new purse? I am so sad that I never even got to use my new white purse!

Steps to getting rid of ink stains!!

1.Dab rubbing alcohol onto the ink.

2.Allow a couple of minutes for the alcohol to penetrate the surface and react with the ink.

3.Blot the ink stain using layers of white paper towels or a cloth that has been dampened in either alcohol or water.

4.If the alcohol is ineffective, try using foaming shaving cream.

5.If the shaving cream doesn't work, hairspray usually will remove ink, but it should only be used as a last resort because hairspray damages some surfaces and fabrics.

6.Non-flammable dry cleaning fluid may remove certain inks. If you use dry cleaning fluid to remove a stain, rinse the area with water afterward.

I use regular dish washing soap to get pen marks out of clothing. I haven't found anything that works as well.

Spray hairspray on pen ink, or marker pens and wipe with dry cloth.
