Don’t know why it works, but it keeps your black stuff from fading as much. Just don’t ever wash anything that isn’t really dark colored with it.

I just re-dye all the black stuff every couple of months with a bottle of black clothes dye from the store. That way they’re all close to the same color black too, so everything matches better.

If you use cold water and wash the darks by themselves, they won’t fade too much. Don’t use detergent with bleach in it, though!

Using that Rit stuff works, but after that you can’t wash the blacks with anything else because they’ll bleed black dye on everything. And some things won’t hold the dye anyway, like spandex, polyester, and some cotton/poly blends.

They’re going to fade anyway, I just wash them with the rest of the clothes and don’t worry about it. Don’t use detergent with bleach, though, not even color safe bleach, because it’ll fade everything.

Don’t ever hang black clothes in the sun to dry after you’ve washed them, the sun will bleach them in weird ways.

If you use a cup of vinegar it will keep the color and repel lint.
