The best way is to get some sort of separate, covered container. A covered plastic ice cream bucket, a covered bucket that the kitty litter came in in the first place, or a diaper pail or other covered garbage can. Line that container with a plastic bag. Use a scooper to scoop out the clumps of litter, and deposit them into the covered container. Once you put on the lid– no odor! Do this daily. When it comes time to completely clean the litter box, empty it and scrape it with a paint scraper, then pour in some vinegar, let it sit, rinse, dry, and refill with litter. You might be able to avoid this last part if you can use cat pan liners, but we can’t use them because the cats claw them to pieces!
