Ditto on the baking soda & peroxide. I also keep the brush part of my toothbrush in either peroxide, or mouthwash.

A quick way to get the nicotine and coffee stains off your teeth...make a paste with baking soda and peroxide and brush. It is safe. Economic and it fights bad breath...

Use a really soft brush, like a little kid brush, and brush every time you eat something. Brush at the top of the braces, between the braces and your gums, and at the bottom of the braces at the ends of your teeth. Don't forget to brush the back sides of your teeth too. And at night before you go to bed, after brushing your teeth, be sure to use your waterpick set as high as you can stand it between every tooth and around every part of your braces. If you're using the waterpick right, it should take you around ten minutes to get done.

My dentist said to always brush my tongue when I brush my teeth. Cleaning your tongue is supposed to stop bad breath. Takes a little getting used to though.

Brush for two or three minutes, floss your teeth, then rinse your mouth for at least a minute either with water or with mouthwash. You only need to floss once a day, I usually do it at night, but you should rinse after every time you brush your teeth - rinsing really well gets all of the junk you just brushed or flossed off your teeth out of your mouth.

My mom has carpal tunnel syndrome, and it's easier for her to brush right and not hurt her wrist if she uses an electric toothbrush; the moving head of the toothbrush does all the work for her. Our dentist says that's the only thing that makes electric toothbrushes better than regular ones, because they're easier for people with hand and wrist problems to use. Since it works so well for Mom, we're getting my grandma (she has arthritis) a nice electric toothbrush for Christmas.

They sell musical toothbrushes that play a song for two minutes, so it's easier to know how long to brush. They make them for kids, but it works for adults too. Egg timers also work.

Nobody ever does, but you're supposed to brush with fluoride toothpaste for two minutes. Brush the tops and sides of your teeth, and make sure you brush close to the gum line. Use a timer if you can't guesstimate two minutes.
