  1. Additional Tips and Advice

Christy asked: How do I remove chapstick off of an aquadoodle mat? The mat says to wipe gently with water only and a sponge. My 3-year-old colored on it with chapstick.

Aquadoodle mats are specially designed to change color when moistened with water. The manufacturer recommends spot cleaning only with water to keep from damaging the chemical make up of the material. If these mats are machine washed, they will become spotted and damaged. Fortunately, there are a variety of methods that can be used to remove the chapstick from fabrics. These methods can be found in our guide How to Remove Chapstick from Clothing. Start with the simplest and work your way through the list until the chapstick is removed. It may be possible to simply iron the waxy substance away using the methods in our guide How to Remove Candle Wax Stains.

Additional Tips and Advice

  • Work in small sections and test a small area first to ensure that there are no adverse effects to the surface of the Aquadoodle mat.
  • Consider the time and materials it will take to clean the mat. It may be more cost effective to simply replace it.
