How to Remove Dishwasher Detergent Stains from Ceramic Flooring

cloudydishwasher

Marianna asked: How can I remove dishwasher detergent stains on my ceramic floor? I have splash marks on my off-white ceramic floor tiles. Have I ruined my floor, or are the splashes the actual color of my tiles? Do I need to scrub the rest of my floor? Could the dishwasher detergents have ruined my tiles? Desperate…

Most dishwashing detergents are safe for most surfaces. In this case, it is most likely that the detergent has worked through a layer of dirt and exposed the true color of the tiles. If they have been in place for several years, there is a good chance that the tiles may have developed a layer of discoloration due to use. White tiles are very difficult to keep white when they are located in a heavy traffic area, such as the kitchen. Fortunately, ceramic flooring is easy to clean. If the tiles are damaged, you will be able to see a difference in the coating. It may even be possible to feel a rough area on the tiles. If a damaged area exists, it will often look dull as the shiny coating is removed. If you look at the flooring at an angle and do not notice any dull spots or pitted areas, the tile is still in good condition. After a thorough cleaning, the spots will disappear and your floors will look better than ever. Here are two articles that offer additional information about cleaning the ceramic flooring. Best of luck!

I have tan/brown tile floors. One day, I opened a new bottle of dishwasher detergent, and the liquid stuff on the top squirt all over my wood cabinets & tile floor. I have tried multiple times to scrub it off, but nothing seems to work. When the tile and wood is wet, the spots disappear, but as soon as it dries, it looks like heavy cream was splashed all over the cabinets and tile. I has nothing to do with the tile being dirty, because the tile is a completely different color. Help!!
