Great parents give their children the wonderful nourishment of real fruit and vegetable juice, but quickly discover the horror of what that juice will do to their young one’s favorite sippy cup. No worries! Katie Ferguson, a mother of two, has found the solution and is allowing us to share it with you (Thanks Katie!). Follow the steps for her method below.

You Will Need:

  • White vinegar
  • A bowl
  • A toothbrush

Steps to Remove the Juice Stains:

  1. Soak the stained areas in undiluted white vinegar for about 20 minutes. If the stains are somewhere that will be difficult to submerge, instead you can soak a paper towel with the vinegar and press it against the stained plastic.
  2. Wet a toothbrush with the vinegar and scrub away the stains.
  3. Enjoy more juice!

Before and After

Check out the scary juice stains on a sippy cup in the image below, and the impressive cleaning results that Katie was able to achieve with this method! The stains in the photos were from black currant, cherry and berry juices. Give it a try!

Additional Tips:

  • When purchasing plastic cups for your little one, try to find ones that list the type of plastic they are made from (#1, #2, etc.). The plastic HDPE (#2) is a non-porous type and therefore less likely to stain than plastics classified as porous, such as PET or PETE (#1) plastics.
