Taty asked: How do I clean a sweater that is a mix of wool, nylon, tinsel and acrylic? In the tag of the sweater (Noise & Silence brand), it says only dry clean. It seems that by mistake I cut off the tag where it was written what type of dry cleaning. The fabric contains 59% wool, 20% tinsel, 20% nylon and 1% acrylic. I want to know if there is any way you can tell me what type of dry clean this mix of fabric needs. Thanks very much!
There are only two types of cleaning, wet cleaning and dry cleaning. There are not different types of dry cleaning. If the cleaning instructions on an article of clothing state that it is dry clean only, it is best to take it to a cleaner and have it professionally cleaned. There are at-home dry cleaning kits, such as Dryel, available as well. These have been found effective to dry clean items at home. Regardless of the mix of fabrics, if the instructions say to dry clean, it’s best to use one of these two cleaning methods.
