Table of Contents:
  1. You Will Need
  2. Steps to Wash the Weave
  3. Additional Tips and Advice

Hair weave-in-hairweaves require special cleaning steps and products to keep your hair looking great. With proper care, the weaves will stay healthy and your hair will maintain its strength and durability.

You Will Need:

  • Oils
    • Cinnamon
    • Brahmi
    • Coconut
    • Olive
  • Gentle shampoo
  • Deep conditioner
  • Wide tooth comb
  • Towels
  • Warm water

Steps to Wash the Weave:

  1. It is best to wash and condition your hair every week or two.
  2. Begin by conditioning the roots with oil. Although this step is not necessary, it is helpful in keeping the natural roots healthy.
  3. Use a dime size amount of cinnamon or brahmi oil. Work it into the roots by rubbing in a circular motion for 10-15 minutes. Coconut or olive oil can be applied to the strands and ends to provide extra protection during the washing.
  4. Next, moisten the hair. You don’t want to soak it, but moisten it completely.
  5. Apply a gentle shampoo and work it into the strands.
  6. Rinse with clean water. Start rinsing at the roots and allow the water to run to the ends of the strands.
  7. Next, apply a deep conditioner. Comb through straight hair and use your fingers to comb through curly hair.
  8. Rinse well with warm water.
  9. Dry gently by wrapping your hair in a towel. It’s best to let your hair air dry.
  10. Style hair as usual.

Additional Tips and Advice

  • If there is dirt build up under the weave, use a cotton swab to apply tea tree oil.
  • Use caution when combing and working with wet hair as it is more prone to breakage and damage.
  • Avoid cheap shampoos and conditioners. They are often watered down and do not provide the level of conditioning needed for weaves.
  • Spray on, leave in conditioners can be used after cleaning and for maintenance between cleanings.

I would suggest that you wash your hair with shampoo like usual and don’t let it dry naturally, use a hair dryer and then add SHEEN or some oil to keep your hair looking shiny, or should I say weaved.

    😉

Opt for a spray on or leave on conditioner for extra protection against drying and brittle hair.

Don’t pull or tug on your hair while washing, it will pull the weave loose. Rub the shampoo in your hands and gently squeeze it into your hair. Wash your scalp separately.

You probably already wash your hair after swimming, but now you need to make absolutely sure you do. The chlorine in the pool will dry your hair weave out, causing damage to both the weave and your own hair.

There are a good number of choices in types of hair that can be used in hair weaves. To care for your hair weave properly make sure you know the type of hair that was used and ask you stylist for the best way to care for it at home.

Wash at least once a week or every 7-14 days and when washing at home, follow the natural direction of your hair.

Hair weaves are attached to your hair, not your scalp, but they can still hide dirt and bacteria if placed in short hair close to your scalp. When washing your hair weave, don’t forget the scalp area underneath.

Hair weaves can get dry and brittle if not treated with care. When choosing products to use for your hair weave, choose products that are gentle.
