How to Wash a Milky Way Weave

  1. You Will Need
  2. Steps to Wash the Weave
  3. Additional Tips and Advice

Marva asked: How do I wash a Milky Way weave that I am wearing? What kind of shampoo and conditioner should I use? Are there any special treatments? How do I dry it?

Hair weaves give a beautiful new look to any style. They require some special car to keep them clean and in good condition. These basic washing instructions apply to the Milky Way brand of hair weaves.

You Will Need:

  • Mild shampoo
  • Deep conditioner

Steps to Wash the Weave:

  1. When you’re wearing the weave, wash your hair no more than once every 2-3 days. Excessive washing will have a negative, drying effect on the hair.
  2. Wash the hair as normal, following the natural flow of your hair.
  3. Be sure to wash the scalp area underneath. Be gentle so that you don’t pull or loosen the weave.
  4. Rinse thoroughly.
  5. Follow the wash with a deep conditioner to protect the extensions.
  6. Rinse thoroughly.
  7. Wrap the hair loosely in a towel to absorb the excess water. If the hair remains wet, wrap small sections with the towel and squeeze gently. Do not pull or rub the hair.
  8. Add gel or mousse if desired.
  9. Oil is often recommended to keep the weave soft and shiny. Apply oil sparingly, as it can cause the weave to slip out.
  10. Allow the weave to air dry.

Additional Tips and Advice

  • Do not scrub vigorously while washing. Use only gently running water for washing and rinsing.
  • Do not use a blow dryer to dry your weave.
  • Wrap your weave at night for added protection.
  • Weaves that are well taken care of can last for months. Regular visits to your salon will help to maintain them and lengthen their use.

For the Indian wet and wavy Milky Way hair, what do you put on it when flat-ironed to make it look like it’s not dry?
